After the player has decided on which cards he wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be given out if desired. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful gamblers are agile enough to choose the most money-making machine every instance.
As soon as the first round has finished, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, a few styles of the game allow the player a chance to double their profits, in which case a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual machines, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
