Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be played in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, using a web connection. The game rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to get the best combination of cards achievable in order to acquire money. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the involvement with other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will then be "dealt" on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and bettors should now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the enthusiast has chosen which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be given out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most money-making ones each instance.
After the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, several versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which instance a further round is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
