Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be gambled on in casinos across the world, or alternatively at home on your PC, using an Internet connection. The regulations are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to achieve the highest combination of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, tactics employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A 5 card hand will be "distributed" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and players will need to now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the bettor has decided on which cards she wishes to retain, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be dealt if desired. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to pick the most profitable game each and every instance.
After the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their profits, in which case a further round is played. There are also variations among specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
