Video Poker is a beloved game that can be bet on in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your PC, using an Internet connection. The game rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to get the highest assemblage of cards possible in order to win cash. On this account it is very similar as a normal game of poker, without the line of contact with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the deal button. A five card hand will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers will need to now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has chosen which cards he would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are needed they will be given out. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced bettors are agile enough to pick the most profitable machine every instance.
As soon as the first round has played out, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Further, some versions of the game allow the bettor a chance to increase their profits, in which situation a further game is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
