Video Poker is a popular game that can be played in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at home on your home computer, through a net account. The game rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the highest mixture of cards possible in order to acquire cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a classic game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a physical game of poker, such as bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the player puts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A five card hand will be "given out" on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and gamblers should now choose which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has selected which cards he would like to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any fresh cards will be handed out if desired. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the payment schedule can range from game to game, so that experienced bettors are able to select the most profitable game each instance.
Once the first round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Further, several styles of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their wins, in which situation another hand is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
