Video Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, using a net connection. The regulations are absolutely simple and consist of the player attempting to get the best combination of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the line of contact with other players. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or money) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be "dealt" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has hold buttons, and players should now pick which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the bettor has decided on which cards he or she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards are handed out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Normally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payment schedule can vary from game to game, so that skillful enthusiasts are agile enough to choose the most beneficial ones every instance.
Once the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to stay on and try to to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that might have been won. Further, several versions of the game allow the bettor an opportunity to double their winnings, in which situation a further game is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
