Video Poker is a popular game that is able to be bet on in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at home on your home computer, using an Internet connection. The game rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to achieve the greatest combination of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (whether it’s tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, whether it is all or none.
After the bettor has decided on which cards he wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards are given out if desired. The game is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful bettors are agile enough to choose the most beneficial game every time.
Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Further, a few styles of the game allow the bettor a chance to double their profits, in which case another game is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
