Video poker is generally played on a machine, which displays the player’s cards on a screen. Joining elements of poker and one armed bandits, this type poker is one of the few games in the gambling den where you might legitimately have a realistic chance of succeeding, as opposed to being at mercy of plain luck of slot machines or roulette.
The gambler places a bet and the video poker machine deals five cards from a normal fifty two-card deck. The gambler then has one chance to maintain or throw away any number of unwanted cards, and is given the same number of replacement cards from the pack.
Following the replacement cards are dealt the payouts are determined based on the 5-card poker hand. The cash payment is dependent on the particular type of game begin gambled on.
