Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be gambled on in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at your house on your computer, using a web connection. The game rules are very simple and involve the player trying to get the highest combination of cards as you can in order to win cash. On this account it is very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the line of contact with other players. Of course, techniques used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the player has decided on which cards he would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are given out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful players are able to choose the most profitable ones each time.
Once the first round has finished, the player can either decide to continue on and try to to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Further, some versions of the game give the player an opportunity to increase their winnings, in which instance another round is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other differing aspects to enhance playability.
