Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or alternatively at your house on your computer, through an Internet connection. The rules are very simple and consist of the player attempting to achieve the highest combination of cards achievable in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, minus the line of contact with any other players. Of course, tactics used in a physical game of poker, like tricking, will be useless here.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the player puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘dealt’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the player wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has selected which cards he would like to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, which will mean that any new cards are needed they will be handed out. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Normally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payment schedule can change from game to game, so that knowledgeable players are able to select the most beneficial ones each and every instance.
After the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game give the bettor an opportunity to double their wins, in which instance another game is played. There are also differences between individual machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying elements to enhance playability.
