Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be bet on in casinos all over the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, through a web connection. Of course, methods used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant here.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the enthusiast puts credits (whether it is tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and pushes the draw button. A hand of 5 cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the gambler would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the enthusiast has decided on which cards he or she wishes to retain, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can vary from game to game, so that experienced players are agile enough to pick the most beneficial ones every time.
Once the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to double their wins, in which case a further round is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying characteristics to increase playability.
