Video Poker is a favored game that usually will be bet on in casinos all over the globe, or in your house on your computer, using a net connection. The regulations are very simple and involve the player attempting to achieve the best assemblage of cards possible in order to win money. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, apart from the involvement with other players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the deal button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players should now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it’s all or none.
After the player has decided on which cards he would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are handed out if desired. The hand is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can range from machine to machine, so that discerning gamblers are able to select the most profitable ones each and every time.
After the initial round has completed, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any credits that they may have won. Additionally, some styles of the game allow the enthusiast a chance to increase their winnings, in which case another game is played. There are also differences between specific games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing characteristics to increase playability.
